January 2, 2017, Meeting

The club greeted the new year with a wonderful presentation by member Jenell Howell on Parsons-Jackson dolls.  According to Jenell, the Parsons-Jackson company started manufacturing dolls in 1912 in Cleveland, Ohio. The dolls were supposedly modeled after "real babies" and made from a sturdier kind of celluloid called "Biskoline". The company slogan was "Kant Krak." The dolls were made in both black and white, some with bare feet and some with molded and painted shoes and socks. They came as either an 11.5 inch long baby or a 14 inch tall toddler.  (Thanks to Albert Jester for the excellent photographs!).

Christmas Party

On December 12, 2016, Bette Birdsong generously opened her beautiful home for the club's annual Christmas Party.  Every room was festively decorated.

Members brought a wide variety of tasty treats for the potluck buffet.
