AUSTIN DOLL COLLECTORS SOCIETY

The Austin Doll Collectors Society is an organization of antique, vintage, and modern doll collectors, dealers, and artisans. We meet on the second Sunday of each month and our meetings are fun and educational. We begin with refreshments and socializing, and, following our brief business meeting, there is a special doll-related program and "show and tell." The Austin Doll Collectors Society is a nonprofit organization and is a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.

February 3, 2014, Meeting

In keeping with the month of February, refreshments reflected the upcoming holidays of Valentine's Day. . .

and Mardi Gras, complete with a King Cake.

The program was a talk by Joe Jones of Jones Publishing, Inc., the home of "Dolls" and "Teddy Bear & Friends" magazines.  He discussed the current state of doll collecting and speciality collector magazines, and predicted an upturn as the economy improves.  His wife and Jones Publishing co-founder, Maggie, was also a guest.

Joe and Maggie generously provided free copies of their magazines to members.

After the program, the members posed with our honored guest.

After the program, during Show and Tell, Elaine Jackson discussed her doll, "Miss Hickory," and the children's book that inspired her creation.

Other members also shared recent doll discoveries.
