Doll Show, October 24, 2015

The day was very grey and rainy, a perfect excuse to stay indoors and shop for dolls!

The charity booth was full of a diverse variety of donated dolls and other items.

The vendors' booth also offered every type of doll.

There were beautiful bisques. . .

charming china heads. . .

bevies of Barbies. . .

cute Kewpies. . .

vintage belles. . .

endearing infants. . .

elegant Madame Alexanders. . .

fuzzy friends. . .

artistic creations. . .

modern BJDs. . .

dolls with a Halloween theme. . .

and ethnic dolls.

There were ample accessories as well.

The Austin Doll Collector Society thanks all the vendors who participated and all attendees who braved the elements for the chance to mingle with fellow collectors (and to find that perfect doll!).

October 5, 2015, Meeting

Member Sallie Howard did a program, entitled "Barbie and Skipper, Celebrating 50 years of Sister Fashions," showing examples from her extensive collection, including some rare prototype costumes never put into production.

The vintage fashions are very detailed, with many tiny accessories.  Note the miniature Barbie doll in Skipper's pocket!

No, that's not Skipper!  Sallie included this pair to show how Mattel often used the same fabric in different outfits.

Member Johnsie Bryan shared her collection of Halloween Barbies trick-or-treating with little sister, Kelly.

Who is that sneaking up on the girls?!  I hope that is Ken in disguise!

One lucky member won the door prize, a box of vintage paper dolls.
