AUSTIN DOLL COLLECTORS SOCIETY

The Austin Doll Collectors Society is an organization of antique, vintage, and modern doll collectors, dealers, and artisans. We meet on the second Sunday of each month and our meetings are fun and educational. We begin with refreshments and socializing, and, following our brief business meeting, there is a special doll-related program and "show and tell." The Austin Doll Collectors Society is a nonprofit organization and is a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.

May 2, 2016, Meeting

The refreshment table celebrated May flowers.

Member Faydra Jones gave a program on the history of paper dolls.

Members shared paper dolls from their collections.  These articulated dolls were made by Dennison Manufacturing Company, a paper manufacturer that specialized in crepe paper and decorative goods.

The dolls came with multiple fashionable costumes printed on crepe paper.

An original one-of-a-kind hand drawn and colored paper doll by member Kathy Meador.

Paper doll books like these once entertained little girls for hours.

These delightful paper dolls, belonging to member Sue Smith, were designed to educate children about people in foreign lands.

These reproduction paper dolls are also educational, providing information about the past.
