AUSTIN DOLL COLLECTORS SOCIETY

The Austin Doll Collectors Society is an organization of antique, vintage, and modern doll collectors, dealers, and artisans. We meet on the second Sunday of each month and our meetings are fun and educational. We begin with refreshments and socializing, and, following our brief business meeting, there is a special doll-related program and "show and tell." The Austin Doll Collectors Society is a nonprofit organization and is a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.

Article in "Antique Doll Collector"

Member Sharon Weintraub has an article, entitled "Galluba and Hofmann, Always in Fashion," in the July 2014 edition of "Antique Doll Collector." The article concerns 1983 Nina Ricci advertisement featuring three seated elegant Edwardian ladies by Galluba and Hoffman, the fashion figurines by Galluba, and the famed British photographer, Angus McBean, who used them in advertising and his custom-made Christmas cards.

Teach Your Children Well

In April, member Kathy Meador did an exhibit entitled "Dolls and Their Books" at Colt Elementary in Marble Falls, where she teaches.  The exhibit displayed dolls featured in children's fiction.

Young scholars (and, we hope, future doll collectors!) pause to appreciate Kathy's delightful literary exhibit.

June 2, 2014, Meeting

The refreshments had a summer theme (this is what happens when you are late for social time!)

The club is sponsoring the "For the Love of Rag Dolls" luncheon at the upcoming United Federation of Doll Clubs convention in San Antonio, featuring a doll by doll artist Susan Fosnot.  As sponsor, the club is expected to provide centerpieces, favors, and menus.  Here Kathy Meador, the club's artistic director, instructs the members regarding what whimsical and wonderful creations she has planned.

Tables were laid out with all the necessary arts and crafts supplies.

Under Kathy's direction, the members get get to work.  The completed creations will be unveiled at the luncheon.
