AUSTIN DOLL COLLECTORS SOCIETY

The Austin Doll Collectors Society is an organization of antique, vintage, and modern doll collectors, dealers, and artisans. We meet on the second Sunday of each month and our meetings are fun and educational. We begin with refreshments and socializing, and, following our brief business meeting, there is a special doll-related program and "show and tell." The Austin Doll Collectors Society is a nonprofit organization and is a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs.

April 2, 2012 Meeting

Our honored guest was Kathy Monier, United Federation of Doll Clubs Regional Director for Region 3.  She did a presentation on the origins of Mothers' Day.

In addition to being Region 3 Director, Kathy is a talented artist, creating beautiful doll portraits. . . .

 . . . . as well as paper dolls.

She also makes dainty and detailed recreations of antique doll shoes. . . .

. . . . and has published articles on the history of doll footwear.

This big beautiful doll is by J.D. Kestner and is being donated by the club to the United Federation of Doll Clubs as a helper for the upcoming convention in New Orleans.  She still has her original plaster pate and wears antique clothing.

At the end of the meeting there was a drawing for the door prize.

Several people shared stories about the dolls they had brought for show and tell.
